Tomato Sauce Recipe
Everyone seems to enjoy this version. It's also healthful.
We have often had requests to make it.
We seem to recall that we originally got the idea for this recipe from a cookbook many years ago.
If you can afford the carbohydrates (without going over your daily carbohydrate intake), it is a sauce that you can use for many recipes.
It's very flavorful, so you can use it in moderation.
If possible, use organic ingredients.
You will need a large iron frying pan with cover.
(a) Heat oil in pan over medium low heat.
(b) Add onion and garlic. Sauté and stir occasionally until soft and almost brown (but not black).
(c) Stir in all the remaining ingredients. Simmer on very low heat, covered, for several hours until thick, stirring occasionally.
The food counts are listed as follows.
Total calories / grams of proteins / grams of carbs / grams of fat (grams of saturated facts, if any).
Carbs listed are "net."
Approximate food counts per 1/2 cup: 90 / 3 / 21 / 4
(As with all recipes, if it's possible to use them organic ingredients are a healthier choice and a better choice for our planet.)
This completes the recipe for homemade tomato sauce.
We hope that you enjoy it!
