Free Weight Loss Programs
these are excellent for weight loss

free-weight-loss-programs graphic: she is smiling at you

Our free weight loss programs are for real weight loss that will last. Here you can see what our free diet and exercise programs are like as well as what all such programs should be like.

Think of this as the view from 30,000 feet!

Let's first understand why it is important to avoid premature commitment to the wrong weight loss program. We are too fat because we are out of balance! The majority of weight loss programs, whether free programs or not, fail to restore balance.

If you were to commit to an ordinary weight loss program and follow it religiously, the odds would still be 49 out of 50 that you would wind up in a physically worse condition and more discouraged than when you started.

Why don't more weight loss programs help more people to lose weight and achieve permanent fat loss?

It is because achieving permanent fat loss involves more factors than we initially think. We make the mistake of not understanding at the onset what is required.

Most weight loss programs are less than total because they do not consider the whole person. They fail to treat the underlying causes of weight gain.

Our free weight loss programs do treat underlying causes.

Restoring balance

Our free weight loss programs restore balance.

We are too fat because we are out of balance. The good news is that, once we do what is necessary to achieve balance, lasting weight loss is automatic.

Having a percentage of body fat that is too high is a symptom of an underlying lack of balance.

Therefore, the best free weight loss programs, such as the ones here on our website, are ones that foster the lasting restoration of balance.

In other words, they treat the underlying causes of weight gain.

There must be a physical balance between energy ingested and energy expended. Sustaining this balance, however, requires emotional and spiritual balance or support as well as understanding that it's not simply a matter of balancing calories.

In the sense that the timing of nutrients and the kinds of nutrients matter, not all calories are equal. Therefore, it's not simply a matter of balancing calories in with calories out.

To identify what factors to look for when evaluating free weight loss programs, consider an analogy.

Think of any interesting field of endeavor such as playing hockey, bodybuilding, meditation, playing the piano, writing short stories, creating your own business, and so on.

Think of something that has actually attracted you. Imagine yourself a typical novice who wants to become an expert in that field of practice. What would you want to learn first?

It would be the dazzling techniques, right?

If, for example, you ever wanted to learn the piano, weren't you impatient with playing scales? Didn't you want some snappy piece that would amaze your friends? If you wanted to learn how to water-ski, didn't you want to learn the tricks? If you wanted to play hockey, didn't you want to work first on your slap shot?

Becoming an expert doesn't work that way.

The dazzling techniques come last, not first.

It's the same with respect to weight loss diets and weight loss exercise programs.

Furthermore, techniques are often much less important than many people realize.

A chief reason for this is a fundamental mismatch. Mastering any technique or skill takes time; however, the only time is now! Except as memories, the past no longer exists. Except in our imagination, the future does not exist. The present moment is where life occurs.

The fundamental task is always the same: it's living well in the present moment.

Emphasizing the fundamentals.

Our free weight loss programs emphasize the fundamentals.

The best weight loss programs emphasize the fundamentals. To work well, techniques must be based on skills that are more basic.

Learning to walk precedes learning to run. For this reason, becoming an expert is neither quick nor easy. The key to becoming an expert is practicing the fundamentals properly in one present moment after another.

Any honest expert in any field will tell you the same thing.

Therefore, the best free weight loss programs will freely emphasize the fundamentals. It's true that physical balance is critical, but it's also true that physical balance in isolation is impossible to sustain. The best free weight loss programs explain how to support physical balance.

Therefore, we strongly suggest following a fat loss program only if its techniques follow from its fundamentals. The free weight loss programs presented here on our website do exactly that.

Creating well being on all levels

Any excellent fat loss program should make available to its participants information on how to achieve well-being in six different areas, namely, physical, intellectual, emotional, moral (interpersonal), spiritual, and financial.

That is exactly what we do on this website. We know of no other of the many free weight loss programs that does this.

Physical well-being comes from eating and exercising well. We explain exactly how to do that. Most of our pages are devoted to these two topics. We clearly explain how to eliminate all the confusion.

Briefly, eating well involves: consuming sufficient protein and fat from natural sources, eating every 3 or 4 waking hours, keeping carbohydrate consumption at 25 grams or less most days (and getting all that consumption from vegetables and berries rather than from refined, processed carbohydrates), drinking plenty of clean water, and having one cheat day weekly (that involves one or two meals in which fats and [high glycemic index] carbs are consumed together in relatively high calorie meals).

Briefly, exercising well involves 2 whole-body strength training sessions weekly in addition to (2 or) 3 high intensity fitness workouts (either GXP or HIIT). In clock time, this involves less than 2 hours of exercise weekly! We also recommend 1 brisk walk weekly.

Intellectual well-being in this context means, in addition to reading the pages of this website, following up by reading additional well-selected books. In addition to our best self-help books reading list, we often provide initial, relevant reading suggestions as the bottom of relevant pages of this website.

We recommend reading at least 20 minutes daily.

Emotional well-being in this context means doing what is required to eliminate emotional overeating. We provide two free e-courses on this topic, which, by themselves, separate lasting-weight-loss.com from many other free weight loss programs.

Moral well-being in this context is only indirectly relevant. It is relevant insofar as difficult interpersonal relationships can lead to emotional overeating and good ones can provide satisfaction beyond food. The nature of love is covered briefly in the free e-courses. (Further information is available from the "emotional well-being" section of Dr. Bradford's blog; we provide a link to it below.)

Spiritual well-being in this context is covered in the two free e-courses. (Please don't confuse being spiritual with being religious.) A spiritual practice is essential for promoting detachment. (Further information is available from the "spiritual well-being" section of Dr. Bradford's blog [its link is provided below] as well as from his book How to Survive College Emotionally, which is available from Amazon.)

We recommend "sitting" for at least 20 minutes daily to promote emotional, moral, and spiritual well-being. We also offer you a page on sleeping well as well as plenty of emphasis on recovering well from exercise. This will help keep your cortisol levels down, which will help prevent abdominal fat storage.

Financial well-being in this context is relevant because, sometimes, some readers may have difficulty affording the recommended diet and supplements or have difficulty affording the leisure time to work out. Although it's not covered directly, we have a section of recommended readings devoted to it on our best self-help books reading list. (For more information, see the "financial well-being" post at Dr. Bradford's blog; we provide its link below.)

The breadth of the foundation for our recommendations makes this site stand out from other free weight loss programs.

Please remember that one small step at a time is all it takes to begin any journey. In the present moment, it is only ever possible to take one step.

There's no pressure. It's always just a matter of focusing on taking one step. Everything else is just thoughts.

We are here to help you.

Our free weight loss programs will enable you to achieve permanent and natural weight loss.

That reading list is organized in accordance with the six kinds of well-being mentioned on this page.

An additional resource is Dr. Bradford's blog on well-being. Its posts are also organized in accordance with the six kinds of well-being mentioned on this page. You can find it at: dennis-bradford.com.
